 Essaouira one day Ecursion

Today, standing on the impressive battlements looking out over the line of cannon and on out to sea it is impossible not to think of the history this town has seen and the daily adventures of the local fishing boat crews. If you want to experience Morocco's many faces then you should not miss Essaouira - great as a combination with Marrakech.

Although the area is very popular and world-renowned for surfers its reputation as Morocco's 'windy city' is exaggerated, in fact the sea breezes are very welcome in the summer months. Essaouira is a charming place for a relaxing break after a hot desert trip, trekking in the Atlas or sightseeing and shopping in Marrakech. The main square is a large open space surrounded on each side respectively by the harbour, town wall, sea wall and has one street leading into town with many restaurants, however, many of the newer restaurants are either near the sea wall and ramparts or along in the port, there is even a popular one right at the end of the harbour which has excellent Calamari. Although, we must admit, it is difficult to go wrong in Essaouira with fresh fish, there are many stalls in the difficult to go wrong in Essaouira with fresh fish, there are many stalls in the harbour displaying the day's catch and an assistant who will gladly barbeque anything you require - seating is communal, just like the stalls in Marrakech's Djemma el Fna.

Along the sea front south from the port is a very long promenade and a huge beach, there is windsurfing, kite surfing and horse riding on the beach, sometimes you can do camel rides also.

Ouzoud waterfalls in one day trip

If you love nature and its green space, you will discover the fantastic view of the Ouzoud waterfalls falling from more than 100 meters into a sinkhole covered with calcareous rocks and overgrown with luxuriant vegetation.Right from the first kilometer, you will drive on a secondary road surrounded by several Kasbahs on both sides in a hilly landscape.

The Program of the day

Early departure heading Damnate and its fields of Olive trees. After driving towards the natural bridge of Imi Nifri where we'll stop for a mint tea and enjoy the view. This itinerary is unique by its greenish valleys and amazing sceneries. After reaching Tanannt, a village perched on the top of a hill, you will see an outstanding panorama onto the jbel Ghat and the jbel Azoukri, especially when the Atlas rock ridge is covered with snow. After Tanannt, you will drive through the Entila region where fortified dwellings with square towers can be seen.upon arrival to Ouzoud, you will walk 10 minutes on a footpath to the upper waters of the waterfalls where grain mills operate thanks to the torrent water. The waterfalls, which are often topped by a rainbow thanks to the spray of water falling on the rocks, join up with the Oued el Abid canyon, two kilometres below. A footpath winding among olive trees will lead you to the foot of the waterfall, where you will perhaps catch a glimpse of wild monkeys.
